Are You Denying Your Cravings?
Greetings!
How many times have you denied your cravings and used willpower to get through this time? Sometimes you have been successful and sometimes you have not; I'm sure of it.
If you want to get a handle on these cravings you need to listen to them. Just like a child who will keep screaming until you actually LISTEN to his request and give him what he is in need of. Giving him something he doesn't need may satisfy him for awhile, but sooner or later he will scream again for what he really needs.
We often don't listen to our body or give it something it doesn't need. Cravings are indeed a message - and if you don't pay attention to them - you will most often continue to get cravings.
Many times we get a craving and just shove in food - thinking food is the answer. But the question remains: Are we really craving food?
Take a moment and use your gut...What are your cravings telling you?
Are you just exhausted and need more rest?
Are you bored and just need some fun?
Are you anxious and need comfort?
Are you overscheduled and need a hot bath?
Are you dehydrated and need water?
Are you lonely and need a friend?
Are you in need of mental stimulation and need to read a book?
Are you oxygen deprived and need to take a deep breath? or laugh?
The next time you get a craving ask yourself what you are really craving. Give your body what it needs. Listen to it. Willpower will only push down the craving like pushing a beach ball under water - it will only pop back up when you aren't looking. So rid yourself of the guilt of not being strong enough. It has nothing to do with willpower!
Educate yourself on the subject you need to learn most about : YOU!

This series is designed to help teens better understand not only what to eat, but when to eat. Looking at food as nourishment and not fearing food is key to forming a healthy relationship with your cuisine! If you're an athlete you'll want to learn how to create the energy you need to better your performance! Want to improve those grades? You will also learn how food can help you think more clearly, keep your focus and achieve the grades you never thought possible. Want to build a healthier body - do it with quality food choices! Whatever your goal, you won't want to miss this fun-filled series. Our menu this month will include:

Keep Your Mind and Body Fit Through the Holidays

Who do you want to be come January 1st? Do you want to be exhausted and depleted from the holiday season or do you want to remain energetic, and enthusiastic about the upcoming new year? The choice is yours. Join us for an evening of inspiration and education and benefit from others who share your interest in remaining energetic for the new year. You will receive tips to help you avoid the slam of the holiday tidel wave and techniques to keep you afloat. A light meal will be served and recipes will be given.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
  WHITE BEAN DIP ON HEMPSEED BREAD
1 can cannellini beans 1 sprig rosemary juice of 1/2 lemon 1 garlic clove extra virgin olive oil Organic Sliced tomato Hempseed Bread

Place first four ingredients in food processor. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil until smooth. Meanwhile toast Hempseed Bread in toaster Spread bean dip on hempseed bread and top with fresh tomato slices.
